ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Associate of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) prepares graduates to compete for various entry-level management careers in the food and beverage management, accommodations and travel and tourism and entertainment industries, depending upon which emphasis is selected.
WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?
The Associate Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management offers a variety of options for the student interested in gaining employment in the hospitality industry at an entry level or as a management trainee.
Graduates can work in roles such as:
Applicants must meet the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica (CCCJ) matriculation requirements in order to be accepted in the programme. Either of the following: Standard Matriculation A minimum of five (5) CSEC or GCE O’level including English A and Mathematics. Alternate Matriculation Equivalent qualification(s) as determined by the CCCJ Mature Status as determined by CCCJ.
The Associate of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management is currently offered full-time across four (4) semesters and part-time (evenings) across six (6) semesters. The programme comprises the following courses: General Education Courses Communication I & II Fundamentals of Information Technology Oral Communication Introduction to Psychology Foreign Language 1 Support Courses Applied Mathematics for Hospitality Business Ethics Fundamentals of Accounting Introduction to Management Principles of Marketing Probability & Statistics Specialization Courses Customer Service Food Beverage and Labour Cost Fundamentals of Baking Fundamentals of Food Preparation Hospitality Law Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism Sanitation Hygiene and Safety Small Business Management

The programme is currently delivered full-time, part-time (evenings) or weekends depending on demand.
To be awarded the Associate of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management , a student must have: Completed all credits in the programme Completed all courses in the programme Completed all required hours of work experience
