ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The Career Advancement Programme (CAP) is the flagship youth education programme of Jamaica's Ministry of Education within the secondary school system. Portmore Community College is a member institution of one of the agencies are directly involved in the coordination of the programme.
CAP is focused on providing opportunities for all learners (ages 16-18) to identify, understand, choose, and prepare for careers and occupations of their choices. This programme is being facilitated under the Compulsory Education Policy (CEP), which is to ensure that all children ages 3-18 are attached to, and attending structured learning/education and training programmes appropriate to their age and development.
WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?
The Career Advancement Programme (CAP) is an initiative of the Government of Jamaica through the Ministry of Education, Youth & Information to respond to the swelling number of learners who complete secondary level education without any formal certification and has not matriculated to post-secondary level education or work.
Training offered:
Portmore Campus:
Computer Servicing and Support Level 2
Old Harbour Campus:
Hospitality Villa Services Level 2
Customer Service Engagement Operations Level 2
Applicants must be between ages 16-18 years and submit the following;
Birth Certificate,
TRN, NIS,
ID Picture,
Last School Report,
two recommendations.
They are also required to have at least One (1) CSEC/ City and Guilds/ SSC at Range 4 or 5/NCTVET level 1.
No Fees attached
The Career Advancement Programme offers training in entrepreneurial development, basic computer usage, mathematics and english language.

To be awarded the certificate students must complete all courses in the programme
